Madeley slams Chris Rock’s behaviour
LOS ANGELES - Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid were in agreement that Chris Rock is a very rude man while talking on Good Morning Britain on Monday.
Chris (58), has spoken about being slapped by Will Smith on stage at the Oscars last March in his new Netflix stand-up special, making headlines while roasting the actor’s marriage with Jada Pinkett Smith.
Richard (66), said: ‘I’m not defending what happened to him, it’s wrong, completely wrong. But in 50 years in this game, he is the rudest man I’ve ever had to interview, Chris Rock.’
Susanna Reid (52), recalled interviewing Chris alongside Ben Stiller when they were promoting Madagascar, the 2005 animated movie they both voiced characters for.
She concurred with Richard and said: ‘‘I have to say, it stands out in my memory. He was just consistently unbelievably rude. A thoroughly unpleasant piece of work.’’
Referring to the famous slap, Richard said: ‘‘I didn’t smack him though, I kept my hands to himself.’’
Richard then outlined how the comedian reportedly acted in a rude way, rather than using uncouth language in their interview.
‘‘I think we need to hear the other side of the story,’’ Susanna quipped.
And Richard responded: ‘‘I’d love to do that. Bring him over! Keep my hands behind my back.’’
Over the weekend, people have called out Chris over getting a fact about Will wrong for a joke he made during his Netflix special where he addressed ‘slapgate’.
The comedian tore into Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s relationship and spoke about the slap he received at the Oscars during the Netflix show ‘selective outrage’.
Chris quipped that he felt the slap and brought up some of Will’s movie roles to illustrate that one of them was an action star and the other a funny guy. He said: ‘‘I know you can’t tell on camera - Will Smith is significantly bigger than me. We are not the same size, okay? Will Smith does movies with his shirt off. You’ve never seen me do a movie with my shirt off.
