PARIS - Nasser Al-Khelaifi and the hierarchy at PSG will soon meet to decide the future of Christophe Galtier and Sporting Advisor Luis Campos with Thomas Tuchel being linked to a return to the Parc des Princes, according to Relevo. The eliminatio­n of the French team in the round of 16 of the Champions League has not gone down well with the PSG Board and it is believed that Galtier is living on borrowed time at PSG. His team’s latest European failure adds pressure on Galtier, who also refused to speculate on his future at the club. “We have to swallow it. It is too soon to talk about my future,” Galtier added.

Rogers conquers Volynets

FLORIDA - Shelby Rogers won an all-American battle with Katie Volynets at Indian Wells 6-4 4-6 6-1 on Wednesday. Next up for Rogers is a second round meeting with seventh seeded Maria Sakkari, who reached the Indian Wells final last year. Rogers holds a 3-0 lead in her career meeting with the Greek. Last week’s Austin Open winner Marta Kostyuk was bundled out 7-5 5-7 7-5 by Swedish qualifier Rebecca Peterson. Alize Cornet also suffered a surprise firstround exit, going down 6-2 7-5 to 427th-ranked Evgeniya Rodina.

Indonesia jails officials

MALANG - An Indonesian court handed prison sentences to two football match officials on Thursday after finding them guilty of negligence over one of the world’s deadliest stadium stampedes. The October 2022 derby match in Malang, East Java, between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya ended in chaos with 135 spectators killed, many crushed as they fled for exits after police fired tear gas into the crowd. Both match officials’ representa­tives said they would study the ruling before attempting next legal steps.
