Working together crucial – Bhembe
MBABANE Patrick Bhembe disclosed that the association was revived after seeing the growing need for the ratepayers and residents of Mbabane to be able to take a holistic view of the effectiveness of the Municipal Council of Mbabane.
Bhembe said as an association, they realised that developments started with ensuring a constructive and peaceful collaboration between the ratepayers and residents of Mbabane and their council.
Bhembe also disclosed that they realised after making an honest review that development needed to be driven by them as ratepayers
Bhembe warned that the issue of urban expansion was something that should be concluded soon so that it doesn’t paint negative sentiments to the scheduled local government elections.

He said as residents, they were following all the issues of the urban government election in the country. He said the issues that were being reported in the media could be easily resolved within those areas in order not to spoil the schedule of local government elections.
Bhembe further disclosed that and residents of the city of Mbabane. “Active participatory driven by habitants of the city of Mbabane can become one of the case studies of one of the examples of best-developing cities in the southern African region,” said Bhembe.
He further disclosed that the Mbabane City Ratepayers and Residents Association aimed at bringing about constructive and transparent dialogue and oversight with the council.
He further disclosed that through regular meetings, they wanted to maintain a steady flow of relevant information to all the association members.
their association was keen on assisting the council and the ministry of housing and urban development in developing a healthy relationship.
He added that the ratepayers and residents association had an obligation and mandate to assist and be part of the development of the city.
Bhembe said he was happy with the recently forged relationship that had seen them having their first fruitful engagement. He disclosed that after years of a bumpy relationship with the municipality, a committee was elected into office last year.
