Zim Lutsango steals show during final dance

- STORIES BY THOKOZANI MAMBA

HLANE – His Majesty King Mswati III and the Queen Mother watched a special dance and singing by Lutsango regiment from Zimbabwe on Sunday night, during the farewell performances at Hlane Royal Residence.

The dance marking the official end of the weekend festivities was mostly performed by Lutsango from the State security forces.

The star of the event was delayed, due to the light drizzle that was experienced and a marquee was used for cover.

Over 2 000 members of Lutsango regiment from the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS), Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) and His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS), thrilled Their Majesties and their guests, who included wife to former President of South Africa Jazob Zuma LaNgema, Emazinyane, Emakhosikati, chiefs and Emajaha.

Composed

The Lutsango from the REPS sang and danced to a song they composed saying ‘MaSwati yekelani kudlalangemakhosi ngekushisa tinkhundla, imigwaco, tikolwa nichube inhlonipho’.

Their counterpart at HMCS also sang and danced to their song: ‘Ingabe ngubani loyongena ephalamende lonyaka’. At around 5pm, the King, accompanied by the Indlovukazi, emakhosikati and emazinyane entered the marquee and found the lutsango regiment already in song, welcoming the royal family.

Lutsango from the HMCS stole the show with dance and song that was characterised with kutsamba.

At around 10pm, Inkhosikati LaMahlangu sang and danced as a final performance for the day.

Lutsango Indvuna Phindile Matsebula then conveyed orders from the King while addressing the members of lutsango.

“His Majesty King Mswati III says it is late and you must go and rest. Before you sleep, the King says there is food prepared for you, inkhosi iphekile!,” Matsebula said, while addressing members of Lutsango regiment. The past weekend marked the second leg of the Buganu Ceremony that started at Buhleni Royal Residence last month.
