Listening gives better understanding of people

-

Sir,

Life is a cycle. Everything happens for a reason. Better yet, without purpose there is no reason to live. Creativity is a gift. When writing, it helps me piece together my fears, wants, needs, hopes and ambitions into one. My unique perspective on life allows me to look at things from all angles before making a decision.

Because I’m open-minded, judgement is one thing you will hear from me. That is why - even in light of recent events - I will save my piece for last. I say all this because I know my personality type.

They say we are mediators or healers. This can be difficult as we can solve complex interpersonal problems yet still be introverted – that is keep to ourselves.

We find pleasure in being alone and may be the most silent in group settings, preferring to listen than to speak. Listening gives us a better understanding of people and expression, which we use in character.

We may seem aloof or stand-offish but are actually thinking of new beginnings, solutions and ideas. We live in a world where there is no wrong but bad judgement. Because of our unique perspective, we can project our deepest and darkest feelings into music, poetry or painting.

In art you will find the true us, all of us. This is because nobody listens or gives us more time as our art form does. We thrive in creative expression, using it to bring hope, change policies, challenge the status quo and even spread our message.

It thrills us more to bring hope than to attract fame and fortune. Instinct rather than logic drives us. We fight for what’s right, not to boost our ego. For us if something doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter... but if it matters, it matters big.

We seek value and find honour in being of service to others. When not helping others, we feel under-valued, lifeless and can shut ourselves off from the world. It’s in our nature to help others excel, to see them reach their full potential. The world needs us; that’s why we’ll sing, write and even counsel those in need of our services. We are not enemies if we disagree. May we find ourselves again and express our differences without fear of judgement or ridicule.

Concerned soul
