She said husband did not have children - buyer

-

MBABANE – The buyer of the homestead said when he bought the home, he was told that the late Sizwe Hlophe did not have children.

According to Dube, before making the offer, he asked Sijabulile if her husband did not have any children. He explained that Sijabulile had told him that she did not have children with Hlophe.

“The reason I asked if there were no other children in the picture was to avoid problems such as the one I am facing today,” he said.

He explained that while they were busy with the process of transferring the home, he found out that Sijabulile’s husband had a daughter.

He said at the time, he was also engulfed by greed, because he had paid Sijabulile most of the money.

He added that he was under pressure to move from where he was staying because life was difficult for him.

In addition, Dube said the home seller was not transparent with the entire process. Instead, she was interested in getting the money.

Interested

He said he understood that a homestead on Eswatini Nation Land (ENL) should not be sold anyhow but the process should include the royal kraal, which is something that Sijabulile seemed not interested in.

He said it was then that he withheld some of the money until Sijabulilewent to introduce him to the Royal Kraal. Dube went on to state that he was still waiting for her to take him to the royal kraal until they were summoned by the office.

Meanwhile, the Manzini King’s Liaising Officer, Thamsanqa Thikazi, asked why the two were greedy.

He told Sijabulile and Dube that the laws of the country were against the selling of homes on ENL.

He said if they felt that she wanted to leave her home she should have notified the royal kraal.

Thikazi went on to state that the laws of the country were against abusing orphans.

He said what Sijabulile and Dube did was the worse form of human rights infringement.

He asked Sijabulile if she ever thought of her stepdaughter when she was selling the home.

Sijabulile said she thought she would not want to return because she had been away since 2014.

He then asked if she gave her some of the money she received when she sold the home, and she said no.

Thikazi asked Sijabulile to return Dube’s money so that Fundile could return back to her father’s home.
