'Beyond 2000' supports 'Bull' against Mamba

- BY MACHAWE FAKUDZE

MBABANE – “I won’t lie; I was supporting Mbabane Highlanders.”

The above statement was made by Mbabane Swallows General Manager (GM) Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane on national radio, Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS 1) Sports Show on Monday. This was after the host Nathi ‘Mdockies’ Hlophe posed a question to him on which team he was supporting between Mbabane Highlanders and Green Mamba on their MTN Premier League match, which was played at Mavuso Sports Centre on Sunday.

The former Umkhonto KaShaka goal custodian said he wished Highlanders to win on the day to put brakes on Green Mamba, who remain six points ahead of Swallows.

“I want to beat them when we play to narrow the gap; Highlanders disappointed me as I was supporting them. If

I had a black jersey I would have worn it yesterday (Sunday),” the former national team Sihlangu manager jokingly said. He also shed light on the issue of midfield maestro Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze, who missed yesterday’s clash against Wanderers, saying there was no beef between the player and Coach Caleb Ngwenya, as the player was out due to injury. He further congratulated Manzini Wanderers skipper Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule for his versatility as he had to take the goalkeeping position after Stali Nyambe was red carded. The former Mbabane Highlanders midfield maestro made a crucial save from a well-taken shot by Kwakhe Tfwala, only to concede a goal in added time.

The red and white capital city giants are trailing the log leaders Green Mamba by six points in 19 games.
