MANZINI – The three-yearold boy, who was reported missing was found dead in a pit latrine.
The minor, Thandolwethu Mamba of Mliba, was, according to sources, found in a pit latrine at the preschool he was enrolled at in Luve.
According to sources, the minor was found at the school’s lavatory as investigations were ongoing regarding his disappearance.
The sources said the boy was found dead, still clad in his school uniform, which he was last seen wearing on Monday.
The school uniform comprised of a grey trouser (jean), red scotch shirt, grey/white vest, navy blue round neck sweater and sneakers (black, red and white in colour). The three-yearold boy was said to have been last seen playing at the preschool, where one of his close relatives works.
Schooling
He was said to have been left playing on a swing when his schoolmates went to the bathroom.
However, it was reported that when the other minors returned from the bathroom, they did not find him. This resulted in the alarm being raised and a search was conducted.
His disappearance was said to have left community members concerned.
His was discovered just a day after police officers had to afford a traditional healer accommodation, after he was attacked by an angry mob on suspicions that he was involved in the disappearance of the minor.
This publication yesterday reported that after the disappearance of Thandolwethu, one of his siblings, who is in her lower grades of primary school, claimed that she was called by the traditional healer in question, supposedly to give her some sweets.
Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati said: “The threeyear-old boy, who was reported missing while at Luve Catholic Preschool on March 13, 2023 (Monday) has since been found.”
Investigations
She said he was discovered to have drowned in a pit latrine within the school premises. Vilakati said investigations were ongoing and urged emaSwati to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
She said the people should let justice take its course and on the same breath, Vilakati said: “The Royal Eswatini Police Service would like to extend profound appreciation to the members of the public and the media for their collaboration and assistance.”
