EZULWINI - EPTC Managing Director Themba Khumalo highlighted the importance of implementing the deliberations of the conference to ensure that their customers benefited from it.
Khumalo noted that the competitive landscape of ICT was rapidly changing, and traditional telecommunications needed to reinvent themselves to remain relevant.
“Our businesses are continuously challenged by Over The Top (OTT) players and the global internet. Reliance on connectivity revenues is no longer sustainable and we need to expand our value chain for future growth and improvement of the region’s performance in ICT. ICT infrastructure plays a pivotal role in the socio-economic development of a country. We must strive to offer the best affordable solutions for all; in our bilateral negotiations it is important that we work towards a win-win for our companies and SADC,” he said.
Affordable
He emphasised that their role was to ensure that telecommunication services were affordable, efficient and reliable as the need to communicate effectively had become a basic need across all spheres of society and the world at large.
Khumalo added that EPTC was on a continuous quest to reinvent itself in its evolution towards a leading broadband operator.
He mentioned that their turnaround strategy would ensure that they had the best infrastructure and affordable broadband services for the market.
Meanwhile SATA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jacob Munodawafa emphasised upon the industry the need to champion the changes and the innovation they wanted to see. He said there was no need for the industry to wait for government to tell them what to do but the need to address issues within themselves.
