MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders Secretary Ndumiso Dlamini has resigned from his position with immediate effect.

This is a huge blow for the black and white capital city giants going into the last seven games of the MTN Premier League. Dlamini was part of the Highlanders Management Committee (MC) that was announced by Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe during the team’s end of year party, which was held at CODEC in Ezulwini last year. These developments were confirmed by him on Saturday afternoon.

“Yes it is true that I have officially tendered my resignation at the club on Friday morning. The reason for my resignation is, I have two pharmacies around the country which both need my undivided attention and it would not be fair to the team not to fully concentrate on its daily activities. I believe that the team will be able to find another person who will fill the position which I have left. I love the team and it was just unfortunate that I had to leave at such short notice,” Dlamini said.

Biggest

The out-going secretary thanked Kgomongwe, the MC, players for the opportunity to work in one of the biggest clubs in the country.

“I have left the team with no issues and I will continue supporting it,” he said.

The team’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Kenneth Dlamini said this was novel to him as nothing has reached his office concerning the resignation of Dlamini. He is the fourth Mbabane Highlanders MC member to resign this season after former club’s PRO Mandla Madonsela, Clement Dlamini who was the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Marketing Officer, Kenneth Gama. Reports suggested that the former MC members took the decision to resign, citing unworkable conditions in the Kgomongwe-led outfit.

The five officials follow in the footsteps of former Director Benson Dlamini, who walked out at the beginning of last year with erstwhile Chief Scout Musawenkosi Tsela. Mbongeni ‘Mau’ Shongwe also left the club after less than two months at helm.

Inkunzi ‘emnyama will return back to action after the FIFA break with a league encounter against Tambankulu Callies. Highlanders are currently sitting on position four in the log standing with 34 points, while Callies who will be without former coach Zenzele ‘Ace’ Dlamini are languishing at the bottom two of the log with 13 points after 19 outings.
