HOSEA – There was heavy security at Hosea when the Deputy Prime Minister, Themba Masuku, went to plant trees as part of a national campaign to preserve forests.

This campaign is in respect of the International Day of Forests, which is observed annually on March 21, to celebrate forests and create awareness about the importance of preserving them. It is worth noting that other Cabinet ministers had been participating in the campaign as the Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development David ‘Cruiser’Ngcamphalala was at Jericho Clinic to further the same course. Yesterday at Hosea, there was a police Casspir with officers from OSSU who were manning security during the event among other police officers, who were stationed in strategic positions around the clinic, all armed with firearms. Hosea Indvuna yeNkhundla Richard Vilane said they were taking pride in that the DPM was scared of the people of Hosea, as he decided to come with tight security. This was during an interview with Vilane, who was questioned on why he did not attend the event in his capacity as indvuna.

He stated that he was only told on Sunday afternoon that the expected guest at the clinics was the DPM.

It was gathered that after the news, Vilane tried to alert some of the Hosea people in some social media groups. When asked about the intention to attend the event, Vilane said the idea was to go and question the DPM on behalf of the elderly and people with disabilites as to why they were give E500 grant instead of E1 000 monthly.

On the issue of those with disabilities, they wanted to question the DPM why they selected only 30 out of over 500 who registered under the constituency. Other issues were going to be those regarding roads and shortage of medication.
