MBABANE - A 22-year-old man who was recently warned to refrain from using King Sobhuza as his nickname appeared in court with the same particular­s.

Kwanele ‘Sobhuza’ Dlamini of Sidwashini was warned by Magistrate Lenhle Zulu, when he appeared along with Vulindlela ‘Mswi’Dlamini (18) and Sakhile Diamond Khumalo of the same area.

The trio was accused of smashing windows of a car belonging to John Tsabedze while at Makholokho­lo.

However, they had the charge withdrawn by the complainan­t.

This time around, Kwanele had been charged along with Thulasizwe ‘Potapota’ Lukhele (25) of Kukhanyeni and Bheki ‘Maltexo’ Dlamini (29) of Ncabaneni.

The trio has been charged with two counts of robbery, while Kwanele is also facing an additional charge of robbery and theft.

In the first count, it is alleged that the trio threatened Buyisile Tfwala with a gun to induce submission to the taking of her laptop and a Samsung Galaxy cellphone, all totalling E21 500.

The offence is said to have occurred on March 17, 2023 at Sidwashini in Mbabane.

They are said to have also threatened Bethu Ntsambo with a gun in order to induce submission to the taking of her Lenovo laptop, valued at E3 500, while at Sidwashini.

In the third count, Kwanele appeared alone charged with robbery, where it is alleged he threatened Machawe Dlamini to induce submission to the taking of his E70.

He is also accused of stealing a Samsung Galaxy cellphone

valued at E18 000 from Vuyo Kunene in the same area.

Through their Lawyer Veli Ndzinisa, the trio applied that they be released on bail, an applicatio­n which was not opposed by the Crown. Acting Magistrate Qondile Mtetwa granted them bail fixed at E5 000 each.

They were warned against interferin­g with the Crown witnesses while out on bail. They were also warned against committing a similar offence.

Meanwhile in the same court, Ayanda Friday Maphosa (20) of Maphalalen­i appeared along with Mpendulo Masilela (21) of Dlozini charged with robbery they allegedly committed at Picadilly Supermarke­t in Mbabane.

It is alleged that the duo threatened Aneesa Hadje with a knife with intent to induce submission of a cellphone valued at E3 700 and money amounting to E7 000.

They had since been granted bail fixed at E3 000 each.
