- BY MHLENGI MAGONGO

MBABANE – Print Pak will soon be providing printing services for the Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) after being the best evaluated for the tender.

Print Pak and three other companies expressed their interest in the tender; these included Origin Media (Pty) Ltd, Webster Print (Pty) Ltd, and F and R Stationery (Pty) Ltd.

Origin Media (Pty) Ltd was outscored by Print Pak (Pty) Ltd when evaluated; Origin Media scored 73.67, while Print Pak scored 86.67, and their price was E83 720.

Webster Print and F and R Stationery were disqualified for lack of responsiveness due to their failure to submit their methodology and work plan.

Procurement

The above-mentioned was published by the procurement regulating authority, the Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (ESPPRA), on their website.

The intention to award the company was announced last week, and if it is not contested, they are expected to begin executing it after a period of 10 working days. As the requesting entity, ETA was also in charge of the procurement of the tender as well as its approvals.

ETA requested unsuccessful bidders to apply for review with the agency within 10 working days.

“All tenderers who submitted bids are hereby notified that a period of 10 working days is hereby allowed for submission of any application for review,” said ETA.

Meanwhile, ETA, in partnership with the Municipal Council of Mbabane (MCM), launched the National Tourism Educational Schools Tour last year.

Explore

This programme aimed to educate learners on the tourism offerings available for them to explore in their cities and the country at large.

It also seeks to educate young people on the career prospects and business opportunities that exist within the sector.

ETA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Linda Nxumalo stated in her remarks last year that the programme offered young people the platform to engage in career prospects and business opportunities that existed within the tourism sector.

“This initiative invites them to think critically, creatively, and enthusiastically about how they can contribute towards ensuring that tourism remains an industry that offers sustainable solutions to some of the country’s most pressing challenges through job creation and diverse product development.

Aims

In a nutshell, the tour aims to familiarise learners with the importance of tourism in creating economic value in Eswatini, expose learners to possible careers and business opportunities in tourism, and promote domestic tourism,” she said.

She said the travel regulations prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic created and normalised a lasting culture of domestic travel among emaSwati, and they continued to explore ways in which the people of Eswatini could become proud and active consumers of local tourism products.
