Homesteads to benefit from new water project

NKAMANZI – At least 180 homesteads stand to benefit from a newly-launched water project at Kugeza, under Nkamanzi in the northern Hhohho Region.

This transpired on Tues day at .uge]a &ommunity Learning &entre, where the :ater 6cheme &ommittee and 0ember of 3arliament 03 Lutfo 'lamini held a meeting to finalise the logistics of the project.

$mos 'lamini, &hair person of the committee, thanked the 03 for the suc cess of the water project.

³:e are thankful for the help. Those who are re sponsible for drilling the water holes for the borehole arrived on )riday to start the community work so we could have potable water.

µµ,t shows that we were right to choose him as our 3arliament representa­tive, considerin­g the good work he has done for the commu nity,´ he said.

+e said the 03 was do ing everything possible to fulfil all that he promised to do five years ago, before being elected to 3arliament. The chairman also thanked .uge]a &ommunity for working together for the success of the project.

There is inadequate sanitation coverage ● in the country which has many negative impacts on the health of the people, productivi­ty and the economy. as you are responsibl­e for about communitie­s un der your constituen­cy,´ said the chairperso­n.

The 03, on the other hand, recalled that when they started the project, the people of .uge]a informed him that they did not just want access to potable wa ter but water to be installed inside their houses.

³:e don¶t need to do this project for just the homesteads but to plan for

years to come, when these homesteads will have possibly doubled in num ber,´ he said.

The 03 will now meet the committee in a final meeting in three weeks time, where he will then submit the final proposal to the sponsor. 0eanwhile, Lutfo also visited a desti tute homestead where he donated a wheelchair to an year old man, $bsa lom 'lamini.The 03 further donated food parcels to the elderly man who was found in the company of his daugh ters in law.
