Eswatini Air first flight today

MATSAPHA –Eswatini Air will King Mswati III Internatio­nal today 7am. This was disclosed yesterday during the official launch of Eswatini Air, a division of Royal Eswatini National Airways Corporatio­n (RENAC). The launch took place at Esibayeni Lodge and was attended by both the private and public sector. RENAC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Captain President Qiniso Dhlamini said the restructur­ing of the airline and the air agreements with other nations will expand the reach of emaSwati, especially air travellers. He further assured consistenc­y and routes have already been published.

Dhlamini added that it was important that they attained more trade agreements with other nations and to increase their routes and attract more travellers.

Speaking during the launch, the Prime Minister (PM), Cleopas Dlamini, urged Eswatini Air to diversify routes with a proper schedule to attract more clients.

The PM said the local market base was dominated by the civil servants; hence the need for diversity was imperative.

He said the company should consider looking into tourism and trade in the long-run.

The premier said there were revenue opportunit­ies in the transporta­tion of cargo, for both depart airport

Eswatini and its trade partners. For this to be possible, he urged Eswatini Air to be time survey in their operations.

“Flights work with time because they are connected to other routes, if we are not able to keep time, we will have a challenge meeting our targets,” he added.

The premier further mentioned that investors of Eswatini Air should not expect any returns yet as it took time for aviation to make records.

This point was emphasised by the Minister of Public Works and Transport Chief Ndlaluhlaz­a Ndwandwe, who said their aim was to promote efficiency.

ROUTES

The minister said it was imperative that all the transport routes in the country were active and utilised to benefit Eswatini. He said the main purpose of the company was to promote efficiency in travel.

Worth noting, Eswatini Air signed a commercial partnershi­p with Hahn Air, through an interline agreement.

Hahn Air is a minor German airline headquarte­red in Dreieich, offering business jet scheduled and charter flights within Europe from its base at Düsseldorf Airport.

The interline agreement was signed in Nairobi during the occasion of the African Airlines Associatio­n AFRAA 10th Aviation Stakeholde­rs’ Convention.
