It is possible

- DR CLEOPAS SIBANDA

+,6 world is and has always been faced with a myriad of problems and challenges. 2ver the years, the world has endured a lot of human barbarism, endless wars, conflicts, and all sorts of human criminality, cruelty and heartlessness.

This world has also endured all sorts of crimes against humanity such as slavery, colonialism, racism, Na]ism, genocide, Apartheid, oppression and e[ploitation. It has also endured natural catastrophes as well such as earthTuakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, cyclones, hurricanes and tornadoes.

And through it all, or in spite of it all, the world has endured. :hat this means is that this world is resilient. It can withstand trauma, pain and suffering. But is it resilience or the stamina to stay the course which we want in this world"

I would aver to say that resilience is not what we want or aim for in this world. :hat we want and must aim for in this world is and should be love, peace, safety, security, harmony and everlasting happiness, and not just the ability to endure the pain and suffering, which is brought upon us by our very own human barbarism, endless wars and conflicts.

PEACEFUL

I herein and right now aver to sug gest that it is possible to have a very peaceful, loving, lovely and happy human e[istence in this world. It is possible, and it can be done, today and not tomorrow!

First of all, it is possible to breed good and upright human beings with good characters, personalities and behaviours right from the start rather than to try to mend already broken men and women later on in life.

However, this is only possible if and when all our national governments and all of us together as parents de liberately make it our own personal and public business to know and understand that the basis of all human character, personality and behaviour is in the upbringing, and then also un dertake and actually go ahead to make every parent aware and understand the same and then act accordingly.

As long as we do not want to under stand or believe in the true and correct basis of human character, personality and behaviour, we shall continue to breed all sorts of criminals, while at the same time we continue to cry and complain about them as if we do not know that we are the ones who bred them.

&riminals are always a product of the society in which they are brought up! This is a fact of life which we must accept and contend with if we want to change our fortunes as far as criminality is concerned.

Thus it is very much possible to mandatorily educate every parent about how their children acTuire the characters, personalities and behav iours which they end up with in their adult lives so that these parents would know how to do the right things at the right time in terms of imparting their own children with the reTuired good characters, personalities and behaviours so as to prevent crimi nality. This is very much possible, but unfortunately no one is doing it! That is the problem!

DEMOCRATIC

In terms of public politics, govern ance policies, practices and systems, it is very much possible to put into place very democratic, people based, people centred and people derived, solidly built, tried and tested public governance institutions, systems, norms, visions, values and practices.

But then we are not doing that, and neither are we prepared to do that. :hat a pity and what a tragedy it is indeed! :e have deliberately and pur posefully put into place pseudo dem ocratic political governance systems whereby we use the aegis of political parties and other organisations and their representatives to give the gov erned people the impression that they are in charge of their own government and governance systems, and that they are actually ruling themselves as they should do in any democracy!

And yet we know that this is not the case at all. 'emocracy is all about people ruling or governing them selves in ways by which they want or chose to govern themselves or to be governed. 'emocracy is about people directly electing their own bona fide human representatives to speak for them and on their behalf in public governance institutions such as town, city and rural councils and also in national 3arliament and &abinet.

'emocracy is not about having a political party or any other organi sation’s representative purporting to represent people in local authorities, 3arliament or &abinet while actual ly representing their own personal interests and or also those of their own political party or whatever other organisation which they may actually represent.

'emocracy is not about a govern ment of political party representa tives, by political party representa tives and for political parties, but it is a government of the people, by people representatives and for the people they represent. And it can be done. It is possible!

ACCESSIBILITY

:ith a government of the people, by the people and for the people firmly in place, it then becomes very, very much possible to have the assured accessi bility, availability and affordability of all human basic daily needs, goods and services such food, shelter, health, education, transport, communication, safety, security and happiness.

This is because all people and their societies, as social animals, know and have always known that working together in a united manner and as a single and purposeful unit, and not as divided, single, self serving, self cen tred, selfish and individualistic enti ties, they have, can and will always be able to conTuer almost anything and everything on this planet, even the conseTuences of natural disasters!

This has always been the modus operandi of human beings and human societies until the advent of selfish and self centred politics and politi to making the things I desire happen. I still fall into this, because it’s hard to get crystal clear and then take action. It brings us up against our fears, our false beliefs, our la]iness or insecurity or doubt. But the bigger problem was that I didn’t feel empowered to create the life I desire, to manifest my dreams. I felt helpless and hopeless, like the best I could do was hope and pray, and maybe these things would show up and maybe they wouldn’t. Hence I would hesitate between periods of great optimism and great despair, because I didn’t feel I had any urgency in the situation. Now I realise this is totally wrong.

ATTITUDE

An attitude of surrendering to the flow of life can help us to remember to release the results, the outcome. After you create your vision, this is an im portant, in fact, crucial step, that is often missed in the whole manifesting cra]e. But it doesn’t mean you just sit by and do nothing, waiting for your dreams to come true. 2ur heart’s desires can bring us into right relationship with the world, to the livingness in and around us. In fact, I believe a true heart’s desire is meant to do just that. Because it sum mons us to our greatness, to our fullest, most alive being, to our full participation here. :e often wish for the best life or success but I was forgetting my part cians, courtesy of our very own rich, cruel and selfish bourgeoisies.

This is very unfortunate, but it is still very much possible to go back to the good old days when people really and truly cared not only for or about themselves and their own immediate families as individuals, but also for and about all other members of society, and also for and about the villages, chiefdoms, communities, cities, towns and countries in which they lived or where they came from.

:e must go back there or otherwise we shall continue to be bedevilled by all sorts of problems and challenges in this world. :e shall continue to suffer until we realise that we actually need to work together and collabo ratively rather than individually and antagonistically!

COLLABORATIVELY

Thus, working collaboratively to gether, it is very much possible for so ciety to put into place social security and social protection systems, funds and practices which would always en sure the availability, affordability and accessibility of all basic human needs and services to all members of society as and when needed, and regardless of their age, race, religion, political inclination, social or economic status.

This is as it must be, right" It is very much possible to socially guarantee to everyone in society that they would be able to access and to afford basic goods and services such as food, shelter, health, education, transport, commu nication, safety, security and happiness as and whenever they need them.

Through basic food security and agricultural productivity social se curity and social protection funds, systems and practices, our national governments can actually ensure that no one goes to bed on an empty stomach, whether rich or poor.

This has been done and can still be done even in the poorest of countries. In fact, there is no right, correct or appropriate time to implement the in the eTuation that I too am part of bringing my dreams to fruition, a big part. 6o as you work on attaining your dream or a better life always know that you have to be very clear about what it is that you desire to create in your life. You name it. You visualise it with all of your senses. You feel it in your being. In feeling it, you make sure you really want it, and it isn’t just something you think you should want. You get clear and real about the details. I wasn’t really doing this step before. You change the wishing and wanting to a commitment. I find in changing my desire to a commitment, feelings and resistance may arise. There may be fear or doubt in my ability.

VISIT

Also, you need to visit your dreams daily. You re affirm your dream and your commitment to it daily. .eep it in your consciousness. As you do, create space for silence, so you can hear where you are being led, what steps you need to take. As you go about your day, stay open to guidance and opportunities to help you realise your dreams. If you aren’t paying attention to the opportuni ties, you are going to make it a whole lot more difficult to reach your desire. The road to get there may go through some unusual routes that you had not planned or never conceived off. If you are too fi[ated on how you think you should right, correct, good, appropriate and lifesaving, universal and compre hensive social security and social protection routines, norms, values, visions, systems and practices.

³The time is always right to do the right things,´ so said 3resident Nel son 0andela! And we must all agree with this kind of philosophy.

In the same vein, basic housing, shelter and accommodation assis tance social security and social pro tection funds, systems and practices can also be instituted to ensure that no one sleeps out on the streets or is homeless. -ust like the right to life, a place called home or a decent home or house is actually also a basic human right which everyone is entitled to.

There is absolutely no reason at all why any national government would let some of its very own citi]ens to sleep rough on the streets or in the bush if such is or was really a gov ernment of the people, for the people, and by the people!

This is because providing decent accommodation or housing for every one can be done. It is possible! As far as the provision of basic health and education services is concerned, these two public services are actually the easiest public services to provide for through social security and social pro tections funds, systems and practices.

National Health Insurance Funds (NHIFs) and National Basic Educa tion Financial Assistance Insurance Funds (NBEFAIFs) are now the norm throughout the world.

UNASHAMEDLY

Hence, any country which still does not have in place appropriate, comprehensive and universal NHIFs and NBEFAIFs is unashamedly do ing a great disservice and disfavour to its own people in broad daylight. Enough said about that! The same applies to the provision of compre hensive and universally accessible top Tuality transport, communication, and safety and security services!

0any people are not aware of the fact that each and very society and community owes it to itself to provide itself with all the basic and essential services which it needs or reTuires, and to ensure that every one of its members, rich or poor, is able to ac cess and afford all such basic services.

:hat is just needed for any society or any community or country to be able to do just that is a responsive government and governance system, and a government of the people, for the people, by the people, and nothing else! It is possible. I rest my case. get there or even where you should arrive, you may be missing the beautiful openings that life is granting you. As you visit with your dreams, remember it is up to you to take steps, to act. You take actions matching with your desire. You make your life corresponding with what you wish to create.

At most you will realise that you need to eventually surrender everything thing to the almighty *od. :ell that has been how I do things, though this is a very important step many people miss.

You hand it over to the flow of Life, trusting that the highest and best for you will be done in this situation, even if it looks nothing like what you asked for. You let it go. 6o it’s not enough to engage in wishful thinking and magical practices.

You have to go out and change your life, take action. Be the creative force in your life. 0ake your behaviour similar with your desire. Be accountable, be em powered, ask for help, and then release the results. No one is going to do it for you if you don’t care enough to make it happen in your life. That was the big surprise I didn’t want to realise. But it has made a world of difference.

³You just have to determine to settle for nothing less than being fully alive, to show up, be who you are, and share your gifts.´ ± *$%5,(//( 527+
