MANZINI – A male aged 21 has been accused of raping a 14-yearold, for four months without protection.

Ndumiso Motsa 1 , of Ngwane 3ark under &hief Somtsewu Motsa, was charged with rape as he was said to have, during the month of December 0 until last month, had sex ual intercours­e with the minor aged 1 years several times without the use of protection.

The charge sheet alleges that the rape was accompanie­d by aggravatin­g circumstan­ces, as the accused engaged in sexual intercours­e with a minor of tender age and at the commis sion of the crime, he did not use protection thereby putting the complainan­t at risk of contractin­g sexually transmitte­d diseases and infections.

Motsa, through the purported act, was said to have contravene­d Section 1 , read with Section a and Section c of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence SODV Act of 01 . The court remanded him in custody until April 5, 0 .

On the other hand, Vasco Siboniso Nkam bule , of Makholweni under &hief Nko sini, was also charged for contraveni­ng the SODV Act in that on )ebruary , 0 , while at )airview, he assaulted his cousin Nomsa Sihlangony­ane with open hands twice on the face. The accused pleaded guilty to the charge and mitigated by reTuesting for a lenient sentence. Nkambule submitted that he was apologetic for his act and also informed the court that he was unemployed.

He said his source of income was temporary work, which the income derived from them was used to support his only child. He was sentenced to 1 months imprisonme­nt with an option of E1 000 fine.
