Juniors impress in track and field

MANZINI – TZD Athletics Club were a dominant force yesterday in the Youth and Under-18 track and field event staged here yesterday.

This event is a build-up to the selection of the team that will represent the country in the African Championships, to be staged in Zambia from the 29th of this month.

The yesterday event saw a great turnout from the two events that preceded it, attracting clubs and schools.

Day-long

In an almost day-long event, TZD athletes demonstrated some resilience by leaving a mark in most of the categories on the day. Some of the categories which were won by the Manzini-based club included the girls 500 metres.

They also dominated the long distance, such as the 1 500 metres for both genders.
