BETHANY - His Majesty King Mswati III yesterday announced the promotion of 14 senior army officers.

This was during the double celebratio­ns, whereby, the army was commemorat­ing its 50th anniversar­y, alongside the pass out of over 800 recruits.

Promoted from the position of colonel to that of Brigadier General were Thandumusa Dlamini, well-known football Coach Zenzele Ace Dlamini, Musa Dlamini, Zakhele Kunene, Raymond Ndwandwe, Nhlanhla Zwane, Madoda Mkhatshwa, Thabo Luhlanga

and Mzamo Dlamini. From the position of Brigadier General to that of Major General, the King announced Vusumango Dlamini, Jabulani Dlamini, Moses Magongo, Micheal Rafty and Mafanawenk­hosi Khumalo.

The King said he was pleased to learn that the camouflage they were wearing yesterday had been produced by the army itself.

“We are looking forward to our soldiers getting into projects that will generate revenue for the organisati­on.

“In other countries, soldiers are involved in diverse projects, where they produce military goods which they sell to other countries.

“We encourage you to establish Eswatini defence industries like most other countries in the world in order to generate resources for the army,” the King said.

Further, he said that he was grateful and appreciati­ve for the immense military support and expertise that they continued to receive from Eswatini’s developmen­t partners.

“The significan­ce of this support is evident for all to see as you continue to shine brightly locally and abroad,” His Majesty said. The King told the recruits that yesterday marked the celebratio­n of the Defence Force Day in a special way, since a new child had been born.

“When we look at your bodies, recruits, they speak for themselves in that, indeed, you have undergone rigorous training,” he said.
