BETHANY – UEDF recruits who excelled during the training process were presented with awards during the Army Day yesterday.

Six soldiers, who excelled, were recognised and presented with trophies in the presence of Their Majesties. The Army Day was commemorated at the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) Headquarters at Nokwane. Several guests, including foreign delegates, were also in attendance.

Among the attendees was guest of note, Ian Khama, who is the former President of Botswana.

Khama presented the trophies to the soldiers who excelled among the over 800 recruits, who were part of the pass-out. The former president is also a trained soldier.

The former head of State is no stranger to the Kingdom of

Eswatini.

During one of his speeches at Waterford Kamhlaba, Khama revealed that he was once a student at the same school and that he still has his former school jacket, which still fits him.
