Alicia leads glamour at Cannes
FRANCE - On a night committed to red carpet glamour it was inevitable that the leading lady might steal the spotlight, and so she did - but Alicia Vikander was in good company as the 76th Cannes Film Festival celebrated the launch of Firebrand. The actress was present on the resort town’s famous Croisette, having arrived on the arm of supportive partner Michael Fassbender, and she was joined by fellow models Irina Shayk, Gigi Hadid and Naomi Campbell ahead of the film’s first official screening.
But while their presence threatened to upstage the star, Alicia stole the spotlight in a sweeping, sequin embellished custom Louis Vuitton gown as she greeted onlookers on the French Riviera.
Elsewhere Irina dominated the red carpet courtesy of a revealing bandage strapped top that drew attention to her famously slender physique as she greeted photographers on Sunday evening.
The model added to her look with a sweeping, lowslung skirt, while a statement necklace - glittering beneath the spotlights - served as an extravagant focal point.
Ensuring she claimed her share of the spotlight, Gigi
Naomi Campbell looked stunning as she posed in a white Chanel FW22 Couture gown.
Hadid (28), opted for an elegant fishtail Zac Posen gown with a distinctive silhouette as she greeted photographers on Sunday evening. An off-the-shoulder detail drew attention to her slender physique, while fully exposing the glittering diamond necklace by Messika that served as her most significant accessory.
Directed by Karim Aïnouz, Firebrand was receiving its first official screening as it plays in-competition for the prestigious Palm d’Or at this year’s ceremony.
A screenplay by Jessica and Henrietta Ashworth, Firebrand is based on the 2013 novel Queen’s Gambit by Elizabeth Fremantle.
