Epic Gig schools tour for St Michael’s

MBABANE- After announcing that this year Epic Gig was re-emerging with a new campaign, #IT’SOKTOBEDIF­FERENT, the Epic Gig team will embark on a schools tour under the slogan.

It will kick off at St Mi chael¶s next week )riday on -une .

7he team will be given a

minute allowance to speak to the students at

0am, during the school¶s assembly, where all the grades gather for their morn ing prayer and announce ments. 7hey will also get the opportunit­y to invite willing participan­ts and students who would like to join or watch the mini concert that the Epic Gig will host at the school from pm to pm.

:hen speaking to this pub lication the 3ublic 5elations 2fficer 352 of Epic Gig Makhosa]ane 3ascua 3elem be she shared that the aim of Epic Gig is to firstly unearth talent from high school level and ignite confidence in them to strive for what they believe in. 7he tour will also show the high schoools the impor tance of embracing that each and every one is different.

³Epic Gig is big on the youth and their empower ment, so meeting with pupils at schools will be the perfect opportunit­y for us to encour age individual­ity in young pupils. In this tour, the team will be encouragin­g the high school pupils on matters that create challenges for them in this stage of life. 7alent will also be given much attention on the days of the tours, the aspiring artists in the vari ous schools will be given an opportunit­y to perform for their peers, igniting a spark to focus on sharpening their skills and also building their confidence.”

She went on to say ³:e are working on discoverin­g and unearthing talent around the country from school level, because the youth doesn¶t become the youth only after finishing tertiary. I7¶S2K 72BE'I))E5EN7 is 7he Epic Gig¶s Episode IV call to action that embraces the difference of the individual in a unique style.

7he youth in our modern day society wants to fit in with standards raised by so cial media and their peers and if they fall short or don¶t fit in, they get depressed and end up abusing alcohol and drugs. :e want to raise the awareness and deliver this message of acceptance, un derstandin­g and confidence individual­ly to our youth and create a society where everyone belongs and em braces everyone¶s unique individual­ity and difference,” shared the 352.

7he Epic Gig has invited guests and participan­ts to heed this call by applying their skills, talents and re sources to various festival projects and initiative­s. 7his commitment towards uniting organisati­ons and creative activists to affect meaningful, sustainabl­e and inclusive change will result in a drop in the depression and substance abuse among the youth.

It is worth mentioning that this tour will not end at St Mi chael¶s, as the youth driven festival will be visiting other high schools in the kingdom to spread the message of the uniqueness in being different and how that is okay.

7his year Epic Gig will be hosting its Episode IV, including a spectacula­r line up of phenomenon artists from both Eswatini and South $frica. 7he event will also be a three day festival from this year and will be held at Mavuso 7rade and Exhibition &entre from -une 0 to -uly.

7he team will also be host ing its fifth activation on Sat urday at Md]imba View at the Musical :ar event. 7here will be an Epic Gig stall, where like the other activa tions there will be a variety of games and merchandis­e for sale.
