ANZINI – In what was a soccer legends international friendly, Manzini Wanderers Legends outclassed Mozambique’s Matola Legends 4-0 yesterday.

The main aim of this friendly match was to strengthen relations between the neighbours, as Wanderers have some former players from Mozambique. So, they took on Matola Legends, which comprised of their former striker Phenias Mandlanzi, who donned the maroon kit in 1997/1998 season.

The maroon and white ensemble legends scored twice in each half to annihilate the visitors. Mancoba Mahlindza and Timothy ‘Theo’ Mathonsi gave Wanderers the advantage in the first half as they went to the break 2-0 ahead.

MBALANCED

In the second half, the match was evenly balanced, but it was Wanderers who added a third goal two minutes from the restart before a fourth in the hour mark.

Moneni Pirates veteran player and Wanderers legend Lwazi ‘Shumi’ Mamba was on target for the third goal before John ‘Shisa Junior’ Mdluli made it 4-0, putting things beyond the visitors who were relieved by the sound of the final whistle.

Matola missed the chance for a consolation goal when Mandlazi missed from the spot kick. Worth mentioning is that Wanderers were made up of players from the 1998 to 2010 era.
