MBABANE – Local musician Manana had his first show in Los Angeles (LA) at the Winston House on Tuesday.
Born 1dumiso Manana, he is a *rammy Award winner, songwriter, and musician. He has written songs for Ami Faku for ‘eBhayi’, Amanda Black for Africa,´ and Sauti Sol, to name a few. He has also collaborated with the late South African (SA) musician and rapper AKA on his recent album titled Mass &ountry.

rd little did Manana know that the win would be a life-changing moment for him. He walked away with a *rammy for his contribution to a song on the album titled ‘Time Flies’, featuring Sauti Sol. During the show in Los Angeles, Manana shared the stage with SA musicians 5owlene and :illinley. The musician then took to his Instagram account to share an appreciation post for the opportunity he got to perform in LA.

The musician is currently working on an album that is set to be released soon. In hyping the upcoming album, the musician will be releasing a single titled ‘Better than this, which features SA musicians 1asty & and Tellama. The single will be released this week on a date yet to be specified.
ABOUT MANANA:
Manana grew up in the Kingdom of Eswatini. It was after auditioning with success to be part of the Drakensberg Boys Choir, that his future music career began to take shape.
His time with the choir allowed him to refine his talent, which he only later fully embodied. However, it was not until he attended the University of Cape Town that he began to write music.
He has already released three projects, which form part of a trilogy. As it is a continuation of the other. The first Extended Playlist (EP) was released in 2020, titled ‘In the Beginning Was the End’.
The second EP was released in 2022, titled ‘But could the moments in between, which builds on the sentiment of being in love and feeling it from the first EP, Later in the same year, he dropped the final part, titled Comma.
It is different from the previous two, but it remains honest and comes from a place of love. Together, the trilogy forms a short poem.
It was during the release of the trilogy that Manana became a Grammy Award winner in 2021 for his contribution to a song, Time Flies, which forms part of Burna Boy’s album, Twice as Tall. This album won in the best global music category at the 63rd Grammy Awards.
