MBABANE – The Women’s Football Association (WFA) continues to provide opportunities for the ladies wanting to pursue football.

Hhohho and Shiselweni already have their regional leagues functioning.

Lubombo and Manzini are still working on registering in order for the WFA to put together a zonal league for the two regions.

WFA Operations Officer, Ntandoyenkhosi Dlamini, mentioned that Mdzimba in the Hhohho Region was successful in registering the ladies teams.

Functional

They have formed a fully functional league and they are currently beginning their second round.

She also mentioned that the women’s teams playing in the top division would not be relegated for now, as the regional leagues were in the testing

phase.

Worth mentioning is that the South Star Mdzimba Zonal League are to launch their league sponsor at a date yet to be disclosed at Nsukumbili Sports Ground.

Meanwhile, in the Shiselweni Qomintaba Women’s Zonal League, six teams registered for the league and currently looking for a sponsor.

Highlighted

The South Star Mdzimba Zonal League also has six teams registered. Dlamini highlighted that it was a challenge to get the numbers up for women wanting to pursue football.

“It’s not easy for boys to form a team simply because most of them are already affiliated with the sport from a young age,” she said.

Shiselweni has two zonal leagues. Theese are the Qomintaba Women’s Zonal League and Etjendlovu Zonal League, which will start this weekend.

However, in Mbabane, only four

women’s teams have shown interest, which makes it challenging for the WFA to start a league for them, unless the number of teams improve.
