Ezulwini United gets E500k Sprinter
MBABANE – Ezulwini United joined the elite league of teams that own their own wheels. The ‘Stingers’, as United are nicknamed, have acquired a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter worth about E500 000. The new bus, which is branded in the team’s colours, started making waves on social media on Thursday and the team has confirmed the latest developments.
According to information that has reached this publication, the bus was purchased through the efforts of some partnerships. The ambitious side is just thriving on being a magnet for sponsors, as they last week launched E650 000 worth sponsorships from Luphohlo Commodities and Umbro. In the previous season, they also received a financial boost from Slomoes worth E200 000.
The MTN Premier League’s ambitious side President Polycarp Dlamini confirmed that the team had acquired a new Sprinter, but was quick to highlight that they were not doing this to attract the public’s eye.
“I don’t want to sound like we are doing things for publicity or competition. Purchasing a Sprinter is like buying any necessities for the team, like soccer boots. Yes, I can confirm that we have got a Sprinter through those who love us,” Dlamini said.
He said the minibus would go a long way in assisting them, as every team required owning their transport. He also said the bus was not a luxury, as they were still building the brand. “I am only responding because you asked me. I don’t want to make a big deal out of this. We are grateful for the support we are getting from our partners,” the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Executive member said.
He also expressed his happiness in the United’s brand, which he said was growing and said soon the focus would be shifted to the field of play. It is worth mentioning that the ‘Stingers’ are joining the likes of capital city giants Mbabane Swallows and Highlanders, Nsingizini Hotspurs, Moneni Pirates as well as Manzini Sea Birds in elite league teams that have their own transport.
