Correctional Sunrise secure VA Cup finals spot

MANZINI – Correctional Sunrise showcased their superior skills and outplayed Mbabane Tigers in a thrilling semifinal match at the Mavuso Sports Hall in Manzini. The match began with Mbabane Tigers displaying great resilience and determination, which kept them in the game during the first set.

Correctional Sunrise, despite being surprised by their opponents’ tenacity, quickly asserted their dominance towards the end of the set.

The Tigers fought hard to stay within reach, but their efforts were overshadowed by Correctional’s technical abilities and effective communication.

The second set witnessed a series of overcooked serves and spikes, reflecting the pressure both teams were feeling. Realising that the Tigers posed a threat, Correctional Sunrise shifted into high gear, determined to assert their dominance.

The Mbabane-based side became a bit careless, as their focus wavered due to Correctional’s effortless movements on the indoor courts.

It is worth mentioning that Correctional Sunrise’s advantage on the indoor courts, where they regularly train, played a significant role in their performance.

Still in the second set, Tigers tried to prove their worth, but Correctional Sunrise maintained their relentless pace, ultimately dominating with a score of 25-17. This meant that Mbabane Tigers had to win the third set to keep their hopes of reaching the finals alive.

However, Correctional Sunrise had no intention of letting their opponents regain momentum.

STRUGGLED

Tigers struggled to communicate effectively and showed signs of fatigue in the humid conditions. Correctional Sunrise capitalised on these weaknesses and swiftly wrapped up the match in the third set.

Meanwhile, in the ladies fixtures, Scorpions secured their second ticket to the finals in just two weeks.

They showcased their dominance in the semi-final match against REPS, defeating them 3-1. Scorpions will now have the chance to redeem themselves in the finals as they face off against Correctional Sunrise.
