Speaking on behalf of the choirs was the President of the Eswatini Choral Music Association Sihle Gumbi, who highlighted that the competition opened so many doors for the local choirs and they are quite happy about the win. It is also worth noting that this was the first time Eswatini was allowed to participate.

Vspinner Chomzin_SD says being a DJ is not easy. Born Lungelo Ndlovu, professionally known as Chomzin_SD, is a male DJ born and raised in Pigg’s Peak, well-known for Playing Afrohouse, Amapiano and Gqom.

He shared that he started taking his career seriously eight years back.

“I started taking my career seriously around 2016 while I was at school. I would say music was in my blood because I went to the extent of purchasing a laptop and installing some of the music software to do my mixes for skills improvement.

“In 2020 I went to play in Pretoria, Soshanguve, Moagi Wings. 2021 I went to play in Johannesburg, Makoya Rooftop, Spraitview.

I stayed in Johannesburg for 7 months, working on myself to be a better DJ,” the DJ said.

He went on to share his plight, saying that being a Disk Jockey is not an easy path.

“Being a DJ is not easy, you don’t sleep on weekends. Bookings are very rare, if you want to be booked, you have to know people who know other people.

“This industry is very cruel and I won’t hide that, but we survive,” Chomzin_SD said.

He further said that he enjoys the local industry, as he is able to network. “I enjoy the local industry and it connects me with people. I shared a stage with SA artists such as Big Zulu, Big Nuz and Sir Trill. In the industry I get to know other DJs and share different views about the music career,” the DJ said.

“If I get the chance to deliver my set, I go for Afrohouse. My biggest inspiration is being able to entertain all kinds of patrons. On my career path,

I was inspired by Zakes Bantwini, Black Coffee and our very own local DJ named DJ Khwanny.

“Before I go out to serve or play my set,

I prepare 3 different genre, of music, which are Afrohouse, Amapiano and

Gqom, but I’ll serve one to the patrons.

Time will determine what genre I should serve,” added Chomzin_SD.
