Lactalis injects E70k into Resolution Run

- BY MACHAWE FAKUDZE

MBABANE – True friends of Eswatini sports.

This is diary producing company Lactalis Eswatini, formerly Parmalat, which has sponsored the 2024 Mlilwane Resolution Run with E70 000. This was revealed by the company’s Sales and Marketing Manager Lucky Phiri in a media briefing, which was held at 23:28 Lounge yesterday. The event was graced by the presence of Athletics Eswatini (AE) Communications Officer Victor ‘Mavikane’ Dlamini.

This is not the first time Lactalis partners with sports in the country. The company is involved in other sponsorships in different sporting codes. They recently partnered with the Eswatini Football Association (EFA), through sponsoring Sitsebe Samhlekazi. They are also sponsors of the Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA) and the Shiselweni Regional Football Association (SRFA).

Phiri, when addressing the media, said they were happy as Lactalis Eswatini to once again partner with Big Game Parks in the Mlilwane Resolution Run, with an improved package as compared to the 2023 edition.

“This edition’s sponsorship is at E70 000, which is divided into two. The first package of E45 000 is in cash for the prizes, while E25 000 is for stock as we will provide two products on the day.

These products are Cabana and Steri Stumpie,” Phiri said.

Reason

He said the reason they chose these products was due to the fact that they were good for athletes and they would come in handy to the runners on the day.

He also said last year they sponsored the Mlilwane Resolution Run to the tune of E55 000 with E40 000 used for prizes, while E15 000 went to products.

“I would like to urge the nation to come in their numbers for wellness event, so that we are happy to again sponsor the next edition,” he said.

Meanwhile, Big Game Parks Sales and Marketing Manager Xolani Gama thanked Lactalis for the continued sponsorship, as they had played a huge role in the past two years during the event.

“We currently have over 400 registered athletes for the event and we are looking forward to reaching the target of 700 runners. I would also like to urge emaSwati to attend the event in numbers as the proceedings would help those in need,” Gama said.

AE Communication Officer Victor ‘Mavikane’ Dlamini, on the other hand, said the association was in full support of the Mlilwane Resolution Run.

“AE is fully behind the Mlilwane Resolution Run; ours is to urge the nation to come in numbers and we also invite clubs under AE to also come for the event,” Dlamini said.

Revealed

He also revealed that they were hopeful that they would break last year’s attendance record of 600 as they were expecting 700 in this edition.

Gama said runners should not be worried about wild animals, as they would beef up security by adding game rangers, as well as have trained marshals.

She also said there would be seven water points along the routes, to help rehydrate the athletes. Gama said the registration deadline was on February 5, 2024, and those interested should register via their website or scan the barcode stationed at the Gables and Pick n Pay Mbabane.

The race will be staged on February 17.
