Gifted defender wins againt' Downs at PSC

- BY MACHAWE FAKUDZE

MBABANE – MTN Premier League side Denver Sundowns defender Mthunzi Mamba won a case against the Milton Dlamini-coached side at the PSC.

A source close to the left-back revealed that he had taken Ikappa Kappa to the Players Statues Committee (PSC) for alleged unpaid salaries and had won the case against his team.

“The reason he took the team to the PSC was due to unpaid salaries for the past six months. The PSC ruled in his favour,” the source said.

The source said Mamba was now on the verge of joining a new club, which would take care of his welfare ahead of the deadline for the second registration window today.

“The player had written to the Chairman Mark Carmichael, informing him that he was leaving the team with immediate effect, in pursuit of a club that would pay his salaries as he was a family man and a breadwinner. The allegations by the source are contained in a letter in possession of this publication, which was allegedly written by the player, directed to Carmichael.

Regret

“I regret to inform you that I am leaving Denver Sundowns Football Club with immediate effect,” reads part of the letter. He further highlighted that he enjoyed his stay with the club and had made the decision to leave the team immediately.

Sundowns Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elvis Dube confirmed that the player took the team to the PSC, alleging that they were not willing to give him his clearance.

“Yes it’s true he won the case against us; he is now a free agent. We gave him the clearance,” Dube said.

Dube said they were surprised that the team that the player said wanted his services called to deny that they wanted him.

“I won’t mention the team, but he was turned back as the team said they had not approached us for his services,” Dube said.

He further revealed that what they knew was that he was trying his luck at Mbabane Highlanders after he requested to attend to his personal challenges.
