MBABANE – A big blow.
This is the story of Ezulwini United striker Andile Mamba, who will reportedly miss the remainder of the season after suffering a wrist dislocation during his team’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Mbabane Highlanders on Saturday at the Mavuso Sports Centre.
The enterprising forward suffered the injury in the first half after colliding with one of the Highlanders players and had to be replaced by Thabiso Sithole in the 31st minute of the game. He was then rushed to the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial Hospital (RFM) in Manzini for treatment.
According to a source, the Stingers’ striker will be out for more than two months, which will likely rule him out for the remainder of the season. With only 10 games left in the MTN Premier League season, it is unlikely that he would be able to return before the end of the season.
“The boy dislocated his wrist. It will be a long road to recovery for him, and it is likely that he will not be able to return to full activity until late April,” the source said.
Disappointment
The player expressed his disappointment at being injured at a time when his team needed him the most. “The injury is devastating,” he said briefly.
A wrist dislocation is a type of joint injury that occurs when the bones of the wrist (the radius and ulna bones) are forced out of their normal position. This can happen as a result of a fall, a direct impact on the wrist, or a twisting motion of the wrist.
The most common type of wrist dislocation is called a distal radius fracture, which is when the radius bone at the wrist joint is displaced from its normal position. Other types of wrist dislocations can also occur, such as a dislocation of the lunate bone or a dislocation of the scaphoid bone, which are less common.
