Gogo’s song after TLC treatment soars on Facebook

MBABANE – Gogo Lomasontfo Vilakati from Makhungutj­a under Ntondozi Inkhundla has taken social media by storm, with her beautiful rendition of a song titled ‘Anginanto Esandleni’viewed nearly three million times on The Luke Commission’s Facebook pages.

The video has received 97 000 reactions as well as over 4 400 comments, and has been shared over 2 200 times between two TLC’s Facebook pages, The Luke Commission and TLC Loves Eswatini.

The elderly shared the song after receiving sight-restoring eye surgery as part of TLC’s Comprehens­ive and Restorativ­e Eye Services (CARES) programme which is now entering its tenth year.

The initiative has already seen over 3 270 eye surgeries being completed with the long-serving programme boasting First World post-operative complicati­on rates of less than 0.12 per cent.

ACHIEVEMEN­T

This achievemen­t reflects TLC’s commitment to delivering high quality and effective healthcare.

The song is not only an expression of joy but is also a soul-stirring reminder of hope and faith, delivered through the elderly woman’s harmonious voice.

Hundreds of users on Facebook were deeply moved by the rendition of the hymn.

“Wow!!! Granny...stay blessed. Aging gracefully,” wrote one social media user.

Other users shared how grateful they were to TLC

for creating such a lovely atmosphere at the Miracle Campus to bring hope to the hopeless and to heal the sick from inner soul to the outer body.

³The Luke Commission has blessed so many that would have never afforded the service they got,” read one comment.

The elderly woman’s rendition of the age-old hymn grabbed internatio­nal attention, including the likes of South Africa’s multi-award-winning *ospel act Ayanda 1tan]i.

Some )acebook users suggested that South Africa’s *ospel group -oyous Celebratio­n should collaborat­e with her on an adaptation of this beloved hymn.

ENJOYING

After the cataracts had been removed on both eyes, 9ilakati said, ³TLC really loves people. :e are all treated so well. , would love to thank everyone for the love , have been getting everywhere , go. , was enjoying the environmen­t , was in, and , felt the +oly Spirit lead me to sing this song, because , am someone that loves singing, especially when it’s within a group setting.”

Multiple times each year, world-class specialist­s integrate with TLC’s team in Eswatini to conduct high-volume eye surgical and other specialty care sessions.

The programmes leverage a digital technology platform piloted by TLC to connect specialty care to patients who need it most.

Procedures include cataract removals, cornea

transplant­s, surgery to correct crossed eyes (emasoli), and other sight-restoring and sight-saving surgeries.

The surgeries are provided at no cost to the patient, supported with dedicated funding for portions of the programme.

She mentioned that in a moment, one watched years of pain and suffering deleted from a person’s future.

TLC is a faith-based organisati­on which was founded with the purpose of serving the most isolated and underserve­d people of Eswatini with free comprehens­ive, compassion­ate healthcare.

CHALLENGED

The hospital has been the last hope for emaSwati, following the drugs shortage crisis, which has, over the years challenged the country.

The hospital, which provides healthcare at no cost to patients and reimburses those using public transport, last year revealed that it had over 7 outpatient visits and projected these to increase to 7 4 0 this year.

TLC has also developed an industry-leading digital health solution, which serves as the backbone for efficient and accountabl­e patient, personnel and supply chain management.

The Miracle Campus provides outpatient care, inpatient care, critical ,C8 care, specialise­d surgical care and emergency care.

OPERATING
