Hilton Garden Inn celebrates 5 years of impactful hospitality
MBABANE – On Thursday night, the Hilton Garden Inn commemorated its anniversary, marking five years of exemplary service, community engagement and commitment to Eswatini’s growth and prosperity.
In line with Hilton’s Global Travel with Purpose ESG Strategy, Hilton Garden Inn Mbabane continued to support local environmental and social initiatives, including the collaboration with key stakeholders such as the Municipality Council of Mbabane to support with the beautification of public parks and gardens across the country.
The hotel opened its doors on May 14, 2019. As part of these efforts, the hotel planted 100 trees in the community.
Additionally, the hotel has spearheaded charity projects, including partnering with the Msunduza Child Care Centre to feed 100 children and has also activated a linen recycling programme at the institution.
The gala dinner held on Thursday night, brought together esteemed dignitaries, including Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo, Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg, Minister of Health Mduduzi Matsebula, former Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini and Public Services Pension Fund Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Masotja Vilakati to name a few.
The guests were treated to a memorable evening of fine dining, live entertainment and heartfelt celebrations, as they reflected on the hotel’s remarkable journey and contributions to the local community and hospitality industry.
Speaking during the dinner, Sam Shongwe, Chairperson of the Board, Hilton Garden Inn Mbabane stated that the hotel’s dedication to excellence and its impactful initiatives made it a model for sustainable and responsible business practices in Eswatini.

The Hilton Garden Inn Mbabane General Manager, Christine Ndlovu, said as they celebrate five years of hospitality excellence, they are immensely proud of the positive impact they had on the community in Eswatini, the bright hearted service they continue to provide their guests and the valuable partnership with the owners, the Public Service Pensions Fund (PSPF).
“We remain committed to upholding the highest standard of hospitality and contributing to the prosperity of our beloved nation,” said Ndlovu.
Hilton’s Vice President Operations, Africa and Indian Ocean Andreas Lackner highlighted that since the hotel opened its doors in 2019, a lot has happened.
He stated that over the last five years, Hilton Garden Inn Mbabane has been a beacon of hospitality excellence in the local community, and features value-adding amenities including 124 bedrooms, an allday dining restaurant, eight state-of-the-art multifunctional venues, a fitness centre, an outdoor swimming pool and much more.
Lackner highlighted that Hilton has been at the forefront of hospitality in Africa and Indian Ocean for over six decades with more than 100 properties operating or under development.
He mentioned that they currently operate 47 hotels in the region, with another 73 in the pipeline as they looked to double their portfolio in the coming years.
