The blessed nation
Osea Naisau, Ba
Simple and straight to the point. Our Nation’s President, His Excellency MajorGeneral (Ret’d) Jioji Konousi Konrote’s New Year’s resolution is to know God more and ask him to bless this nation. With the dawn of 2016 AD. With TC Ula taking its natural course across part of the group. Rain came in abundance throughout the islands during the festive season and into the New Year.
Though some may have felt the weather’s extremities, some of us in the western side, just breathe a sigh of relief because the long drought’s had been broken.
Rain is always a sign of God’s Blessing. Those words uttered by our Commander in Chief shows that we are in good and capable hands.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama during his first year in leading the nation has shown that he possesses qualities of a good leader. His outgoing personality to reach out to all classes and provide for their needs is a classic example of a servant/leader that get things done as shown by corporate advisorCaryn Walsh (FS 5/12).
Cabinet ministers in following their leader’s footsteps had shown that there’s more to come this year. On the other hand, in her New Year’s speech, Leader of the Opposition Ro Teimumu Kepa, had shown specific flaws that need to be properly addressed.
Hopefully the two gentlemen mentioned in her speech, the Prime Minister and the Attorney-General aren’t dictators in the real sense of the word.
For evidence abound that those who possessed that quality aren’t supposed to lead for they lack its basic principle.
Opposition members of Parliament have collectively voiced their opinion on restrictions that needs to be relaxed or lifted. Hopefully the Government of the day on its part will do its part in the near future.
We are regarded as the happiest people by a poll conducted in 2014 by win/Gallup international and Tebutt Research. We have taken the pros and cons of life fully on the chin but still manage to come up with the famous smile that is deeply ingrained in our nature.
As the Leader of the Opposition aptly puts it in concluding her speech, “…. Let us come together so that the just, fair, transparent and accountable governance we seek and the freedom we are entitled can once again become the reality for Fiji. Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year and God bless you all.”
