Hunt for new Fijiana squad

Tanivula on the lookout for new inclusions, building base

Telecom Fijiana coach Iliesa Tanivula will be scouting for new players at the Bayleys Fiji Coral Coast 7s next week at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka. Competitio­ns like the Coral Coast 7s are a platform where women can showcase their rugby talents.

“We will definitely be looking for new players during the Coral Coast 7s,” Tanivula said. “We don’t really have a wide player base in Fiji, but it’s something Fiji Rugby has got in the pipeline to have more competitio­ns for women.” Tanivula said while the current Fijiana players were doing a good job, there was still a need to recruit

But it’s good to see them back and more dedicated than ever. “I hope that we keep stepping up because we’ve some long term goals which is the Rio Olympics and the Women’s Sevens Series. We want to achieve the best possible result as we can.” Tanivula said. The Telecom Fijiana march into camp today at the Uprising Beach Resort in Pacific Harbour for the Coral Coast 7s on January 14-16 at Lawaqa Park.
