Peni Matawalu is adamant as he prepares for the Oceania Rugby Under-20 Trophy which will be held at the ANZ Stadium on November 26-December 10. The participat­ing teams will be Fiji, Tonga and Cook Islands. The winner will qualify for the 2017 World Rugby U20 Trophy and the 2017 Oceania Rugby U20 Championsh­ip (joining Samoa, New Zealand and Australia). The Dama, Nakorotubu, Ra native is the younger brother of former Vodafone Flying Fijians scrumhalf Nikola Matawalu. “I’ve been preparing well with my teammates sacrificin­g and dedicating for the cause. “There are a lot of new boys in the squad but we all have the same aim and that is to finish on a high in December,” Matawalu said. Matawalu, 19, has been getting a lot of encouragem­ent from his elder brother Nikola. “I have been talking to him and he’s been telling me to remain focus, prepare myself physically, mentally and spirituall­y,” he said.
