Two key players in the Vodafone Fijian 7s team are in doubt for this weekend’s Vancouver 7s tournament in Canada.

Captain Osea Kolinisau copped a shoulder injury during the Cup semi-final clash against New Zealand and had to be replaced by veteran Joeli Lutumailagi in the second half. Kolinisau later played in the Cup final against South Africa.

Also uncertain is halfback Seremaia Tuwai who had to limp off the field against Canada during their Cup quarterfinal on Sunday. Head coach Gareth Baber told SUNsports that Tuwai had bruised his shin so they monitored his injury before deciding to play him in the final day. “We have more than capable boys on the team who have proved themselves that they can perform and take it to another level,” Baber said.

If they are ruled out then in comes utility back Alivereti Veitokani and Setareki Bituniyata while forward Kalione Nasoko could be moved back to rover. Meanwhile, the Vodafone Fijian 7s team are drawn in a tough Pool B of the Vancouver 7s.

They face Argentina who beat New Zealand during their pool game of the USA 7s, the muchimproved Samoa under wily coach Gordon Tietjens and Wales. Series leaders South Africa are the top seed for Pool A as they are billed against England, Kenya and Chile.

USA top Pool C as they take on Australia, France and Japan while New Zealand are the team to beat in Pool D along with Canada, Scotland and Russia.
