The Nadi Bluelight Village Hotel previously known as Hotel San Bruno, has undergone revamp and developments of over $1 millon since last year. Managing director, Rina Kumar says the hotel has boosted itself well in the local and tourist sector since the new ownership in 2011.

The recently built VIP/executive lodge is also now available.

Ms Kumar, who is an academic, said over the past few years, investments have been made to standardise the 19 year old hotel.

“The hotel is now a three star on Trip Advisor and has had quite a good percentage of occupancy since the standardisation of the property,” Ms Kumar said.

“When we took over the hotel, it was being used by a different crowd of people and was mostly empty and had no activities or events happening so we started marketing it and then later changed the name.”

The 30-room hotel with two fully furnished apartments, three standard villas and dormitory to accommodate 30 people has undergone refurbishment of the furniture, fittings, walls, bedding linens and more.

Another add to the property is a second multipurpose hall to cater for a capacity of 500 as result of increase in demand. This will be available from September

“This is at the roofing stage currently,” she said. “This is our local brand and my family and I have nurtured it to this standard.

“We are happy with where the hotel business is going towards despite all the challenges,” she said.

Ms Kumar said as a result of the investment to upgrade the hotel, she and her husband, Sunil Kumar, have been injecting their salaries into it.

As a hotel located within the vicinity of the farms and dwelling houses, immediate plan are:

■ To increase the liveliness in the local market, Bluelight Village Hotel will soon start buffet meals.

■ Planning to have rental and hire car services direct for the hotel.

■ The hotel will further increase its room capacity ■ Host more wedding, party and conference events with catering

The hotel siting on the four acres of land will see much more upgrades in time to come and increase in accommodation facilities, Ms Kumar said.

The hotel currently operates with 18 staff.
