SNIPER VS RAZOR: BRING IT
Heated words were exchanged between Junior ‘Razor’ Farzan Ali and Sebastian ‘Sniper’ Singh in Nadi yesterday.
The duo will feature in the main bout of the Canada Fiji Southern Boxing Promotions scheduled at Prince Charles Park, Nadi on June 30.
Singh thanked Junior for agreeing to the fight and reminded him not to bring a medical certificate on fight day.
“I’m training harder than any other fight because I know Junior will be no walk in the park,” Singh said.
“But at the end of the day, he is human and in a sport like boxing, anything can happen. My goal is to win and that is the only option.
“Junior is an ‘old fox’ and knows every trick of the trade as he has been through the mill. He has also fought some of the best fighters in the Oceania region.
“I respect his dad and his late brother Joy Ali. I guess it’s time for a new hero to take the Fiji boxing to the next level. I hope he turns up and be ready on fight day.”
His manager Aman Ravindra Singh said the fight won’t last six rounds.
“The fight wouldn’t go beyond six rounds, ”he said.
He thanked the promoters for putting the programme together. Junior said Singh should respect him, saying the only ‘Golden Boy’ of boxing in Fiji after Sakaraia Ve was his late brother Joy Ali. “I thank the Lord who has brought me this far and I am training hard,” Junior said.
“I don’t want to say much but I am just waiting for the fight night.” His father and manager Farzan Ali Senior said: “They are saying it will be over in six rounds but mark my word it will be less than that.” BCF board member Usman Ali said this could be the fight of the decade.
“This is a very well organised programme and fans are looking forward to it.” Co-promoter Simon Naushad said: “We believe by spending so much money will not only attract quality boxers but inspire and unearth untapped talents to take up the sport. Our mission is to relive the glory days of Fijian boxing. “The programme is on the public holiday which is Sports and Wellness Day. We urge all boxing fans to turn up in numbers.”
