Whites coach wary of Rewa

- JUSTINE MANNAN SUVA Edited by Leone Cabenatabua Feedback:

Suva head coach Nathan Shivam managed to keep preparations on track despite the change in their schedule to play Rewa.

The capital side was supposed to play Rewa last Sunday but the programme had been changed and they will now face them tomorrow at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori. “Preparations have been good for us even though the change in our game has affected us a bit,” Shivam said.

“Training and preparing the boy’s mentally and then getting told the game has changed can really affect our mental preparation. It is not pleasing for me as a coach but we have managed to overcome that and train according to the new date set for our match.

“The boys had to adjust themselves again so the morale amongst the boys is growing slowly which I am thankful for. We have been working on our finishing which is very important, I have seen that we have created a lot of chances but couldn’t finish properly. “Defence is also another key area for us to focus on, I am hoping that on game day the players can at least get their finishing and defence right.”

Playing against Rewa on their home ground will not be easy, says Shivam, but he is expecting a really good game.

“Playing the Fiji FACT champions will not be easy and I know that they will be putting up a fight. They will come out strong and I am sure fans of both teams will witness some good football because we both want a win. Winning is never easy and we want to go into the match and do our best, we have had ample time to prepare and we hope it turns out in our favour.”
