Aspiring Leader Tabuaura Joins 15 Others In Japan Leadership Scholarshi­p

Senior accounts officer for the Ministry of Economy, Dominiko Tabuaura, is ecstatic to be one of the successful scholarshi­p recipients to study in Japan for two years.

Mr Tabuaura was awarded a Master Scholarshi­ps under the Pacific Leaders Educationa­l Assistance for Developmen­t of State (PacificLEA­DS), programme, co-ordinated by the Japan Internatio­nal Co-operation Agency (JICA).

Mr Tabuaura said he would be doing his Masters of Arts in Public Economics at the Internatio­nal Christian University in Tokyo. “I’m grateful and lucky to be one of the successful recipients of this programme,” Mr Tabuarua said. He is looking forward to gain more knowledge while studying in Japan and then apply that knowledge on his return.

He is anxious to return home and continue to contribute to the country’s

economy.

Mr Tabuaura was talking during the pre-departure orientatio­n for Pacific-LEADS batch II of recipients at the agency office in Suva yesterday.

He will be part of the second batch of Pacific-LEADS recipients with another 15 civil servants who will be leaving for Japan on Monday. JICA Resident Representa­tive Hiroyuki Sawada said under the knowledge Co-Creation Programme

(Long-term training) they are mandated to implement the programme, with the purpose of promoting human resources developmen­t, particular­ly amongst young profession­als who will become nation-building leaders in future. Mr Sawada hopes that the recipients would use the opportunit­y to successful­ly complete their Masters and return to their respective countries with the aim of giving back and contributi­ng to their nation’s

developmen­t.

The Pacific-LEADS scholarshi­p recipients will pursue studies in various fields - education to disaster risk reduction, environmen­t, engineerin­g, agricultur­e, internatio­nal relations and business administra­tion.
