Aspiring Leader Tabuaura Joins 15 Others In Japan Leadership Scholarship
He was awarded a Masters scholarship under the Pacific Leaders Educational Assistance for Development of State (Pacific-LEADS), programme, coordinated by the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA)
Senior accounts officer for the Ministry of Economy, Dominiko Tabuaura, is ecstatic to be one of the successful scholarship recipients to study in Japan for two years.
Mr Tabuaura was awarded a Master Scholarships under the Pacific Leaders Educational Assistance for Development of State (PacificLEADS), programme, co-ordinated by the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA).
Mr Tabuaura said he would be doing his Masters of Arts in Public Economics at the International Christian University in Tokyo. “I’m grateful and lucky to be one of the successful recipients of this programme,” Mr Tabuarua said. He is looking forward to gain more knowledge while studying in Japan and then apply that knowledge on his return.
He is anxious to return home and continue to contribute to the country’s
economy.
Mr Tabuaura was talking during the pre-departure orientation for Pacific-LEADS batch II of recipients at the agency office in Suva yesterday.
He will be part of the second batch of Pacific-LEADS recipients with another 15 civil servants who will be leaving for Japan on Monday. JICA Resident Representative Hiroyuki Sawada said under the knowledge Co-Creation Programme
(Long-term training) they are mandated to implement the programme, with the purpose of promoting human resources development, particularly amongst young professionals who will become nation-building leaders in future. Mr Sawada hopes that the recipients would use the opportunity to successfully complete their Masters and return to their respective countries with the aim of giving back and contributing to their nation’s
development.
The Pacific-LEADS scholarship recipients will pursue studies in various fields - education to disaster risk reduction, environment, engineering, agriculture, international relations and business administration.
