World Accountants Meeting In Nadi A Success
The Conference of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) Professional Accountancy Organisation Development Committee (PAODC) meeting, held last month in Sofitel, Nadi was a success.
“We have certainly gained some value adding networks and certainly have built relationships with other Professional Accountancy Organisations who are members of Conference of Asian and Pacific Accountants, the Conference of Asian and Pacific Accountants management and also with development partners - World Bank and Asian Development Bank,” Fiji Institute of Accountants president Finau Nagera said.
The meeting, hosted by the Fiji Institute of Accountants (FIA) was the first ‘outreach’ meeting of the Professional Accountancy Organisation Development Committee in Fiji. All Conference of Asian and Pacific Accountants members from the South Pacific region were represented.
“The Fiji Institute of Accountants was also able to push through matters which are of interest to the institute such as solidifying our International and regional relationships and keeping abreast of matters of interest,” she said. Professional Accountancy Organisation Development Committee members and other attendees came from Australia, Canada, China, India, Japan, Sri Lanka and the United States of America.
The Conference of Asian and Pacific Accountants Conference of Asian and the Pacific Accountants Deputy President were in attendance. The meeting had a broad agenda, with many matters associated with Maturity Model initiatives, including:
• A progress update in developing the Maturity Model Guidance Series, including updates on the associated plans to promote the outputs regionally and globally; • • for the benefit of South Pacific members.
A key focus of the meeting was the Quality Assurance for Audit projects, with the representative from the Asian Development Bank discussing the background to the project and future intentions. Other important matters on the agenda included the Promotion of the World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) 2018 in Sydney, Australia with the theme ‘Global Challengers/ Global Leaders’ and proposed key topics for session were presented.
