Chauhan Named New Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation President
Sandeep Chauhan is the new president for Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation. Mr Chauhan was elected yesterday at their annual general meeting held at the Employers Hub.
“I’m still taking it in,” he said soon afterwards. He said that there will be continuity of the good work and carrying the organisation forward.
“We’ve got a good team on the board,” he said. Mr Chauhan added that with their involvement in the community, they will continue to their part as a premium employer federation. “We look at how we can bring about growth,” he said.
Mr Chauhan is the managing director for Star Printery.
Outgoing president Himen Chandra congratulated Mr Chauhan and he will continue to support and help in every way possible.
“It was a great two years but every good thing comes to an end.”
The managing director for Comfort Home Furnishing said that his two years of presidency has developed him personally and has enable him to contribute towards the community, country and the economy.
Mr Chandra has been involved in the Federation for over seven years and his roles has been a milestone and an achievement for him, he says.
“Now I would like to give the support for the incoming president and we will take this to the next level,” he said.
FCEF chief executive officer Nesbitt Hazelman congratulate the new president and also the new board members that was elected as well. “We have seen some new faces and also old face and a strong team on the board.”
Mr Hazelman commented on the diversity in the board as they now have few female members.
“With the strengths of the ladies in the board, I’m sure we will achieve our objectives of building our women in business council,” he said.
He also highlighted the potentials that the youths have which needs more assistance in terms of business advisory, mentorships and advice.
“The youths are very critical to us.
“We just need to hold their hands and help them in the difficult times in terms of building their businesses,” said Mr Hazelman.
The Vice Presidents will be elected in the Federation’s next board meeting next month.
