Former national sevens rep James Brown says playing the Fiji Airways Drua at the ANZ Stadium today would be tough.
The former Suva rugby captain will be at No. 8 for the Sydney Rays in the last round of the Australian National Rugby Championship.
“It will be always tough to play a Fijian side at home,” he said.
“We struggled this season but we hope we can finish well. It is very important for us to finish this season on a high.”
Last Saturday, the Rays upset defending champions Perth Spirit 44-31.
The run on team will have the services of prominent players in USA prop James Hilterbrand, Damien Fitzpatrick, Sam Lane, Bryce Hegarty and another Fijian Paula Balekana.
“We have enough players to fill in for injured players.”
Brown is looking forward to be part of the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians in future.
Rays head coach Julian Huxley said they need to win over the Drua.
“I have played many great Fijian players, even during the Rugby Sevens World Cup.” Huxley is excited to see his team take on the John Stewart skippered Drua on Fijian soil. “In my era we did not get a chance to play here.
“I am excited to see the footage of how the Drua have played and to see the local crowd and how enthusiastic they are about their Fijian rugby which is not what we get back home.”
The Rays – Drua match kicks off at 6.30[m.
