CHIEF INSPIRES VILLAGERS TO HAVE POSITIVE MINDSET

- SHRATIKA NAIDU LABASA Edited by Percy Kean

Tui Nadogo, Ratu Ilisanita Malodali, while on a surprise visit throughout his district, has requested villagers to enter 2018 with a positive mindset. Ratu Ilisanita when sharing his concern to the people advised them to take ownership of their surrounding natural resources and not give them to outsiders, like logging companies, whose only focus was making money.

“I encouraged villagers in my district to start their own business by following simple procedures so that they and the future generation can reap the full benefit,” Ratu Ilisanita said.

“I shared a bible verse from Genesis Chapter One: Verse One which reads: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. “I elaborated saying that whatever we have comes from God and we must thank him and take good care of it.

“I thanked my people for their contributions in maintaining a healthy community relationship last year. I told them to keep updated about changes happening around in terms of developments to their land and resources.” Many communities are left behind because they are far away from the main centres and not aware of changes coming up.

“They don’t understand that with freedom come responsibility, purpose and choices.

Nevertheless, I told them the importance of educating their children and maintaining a good spiritual life.”

Nadogo district in the province of Macuata has 10 registered villages.
