Mani further remanded
A 53-year-old man was further remanded by the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday, charged with giving false information to public servants.
Narendra Mani appeared before Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa without a lawyer.
Between June 1, 2010 and August 30, 2010 he allegedly gave information to a Police officer, which he knew or believed to be false, intending to cause or knowing it to be likely that the officer would carry out investigations.
During this time while being a serving inmate Mani allegedly gave false information regarding the alleged assassination plot of the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, and the former Commissioner of Police, Esala Teleni.
Mani was serving a 20-month jail sentence for obtaining money by false pretence at the time.
It is also alleged that he gave false information regarding an alleged planned mass breakout by inmates from the Natabua, Naboro and Korovou centres.
The case was adjourned to January 16, for mention. Nausad, entered the Noraton Motel at Waimanu Road as a trespasser with the intent to steal.
On that same day it is alleged that Nausad stole a purse containing a $3000 Apple iPhone, a Chinese passport valued at $100 and $150 cash, all to the total value of $3250. Nausad allegedly broke into a locker at the motel’s reception area and took a black bag containing valuable things belonging to the complainant.
Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa adjourned the case to January 16, for mention. Monday charged with one count of cultivating illicit drugs.
It is alleged that on December 28, last year Bikarma Dewan of Yako in Nadi had unlawfully cultivated 470 plants of marijuana weighing 70.5 kilogrammes. He appeared before Magistrate Seromi Turaga. The accused has been remanded at the Natabua Corrections Centre in Lautoka and is expected to appear on January 15 where he will take his plea.
