Thank you Fiji Sun, Colouring competition winners say
Afamous architect Antoni Gaudi once said, “Colour in certain places has the great value of making the outlines and structural planes seem more energetic”.
This was true for the four winners who collected their ‘Educare’ sets of exercise books in Nadi yesterday. They participated in a colouring competition organised by the Fiji
Sun and Star Printery.
This competition has also relieved parents who were getting their children ready for the new school calendar with stationery.
Shristi Reddy, 14, a Year-10 student at Jasper Williams High School in Lautoka was among the winners. Reddy said, “it is my hobby to do colouring and drawings, my mum chose the colours for me. I did not expect to win but I did it for the sake of hope.
“I thank Fiji Sun for the competition because this lightens the burden on my parents buying books for me this year.”
Her mother Rosie John, is an administrator with Deluxe Paints in Lautoka.
Ms John said, “I love colours and this inspires me a lot. While my daughter was doing the colouring she mentioned to me that she wants to win so that we don’t buy the books for her. This came true, thank you Fiji Sun.”
Parth Badjugar, 10, of Tagore Memorial School in Ba also received a prize for a first time to participate in such competition. “First time for me in any competition, my dad is an executive in a company and he buys the Fiji Sun on daily basis so I have generated an interest to go over the paper as well until I saw the colouring and thought of why not participate.”
Lenora Sela, 17, a Year 12 student of Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College (SSKMC) loves drawing as a hobby.
“I did not expect to win but feel proud to be recognised. Actually I did the colouring with my sister, it was a good effort of colouring we did.
Kivanjali Mudaliar, 10, a Sabeto Sangam School Year Five student was impressed with what she learned.
“I took ideas from my mother but I did it myself. I did make up my mind to win a prize.” Kivanjali said.
Fiji Sun marketing manager Rajiv Raj thanked the students and their parents for their participation. Fifteen students were among other winners.
“The kids really did their best and won prizes, this will lighten the burdened to buy books all the best for 2018,” he said.
Mr Raj added that Fiji Sun would promote other competitions in the coming months.
