Second Mezbaan Outlet Opens in Suva
If you want a complete dining package than Mezbaan is the place for you. “Nowadays there is good food everywhere, but at Mezbaan we want to offer you the complete dining package,” said Alam Mozno, the owner of Mezbaan.
Mr Mozno who is a 38-year-old lecturer at the Fiji National University, is behind the growing chain of Mezbaan restaurants around Suva. “I have used my passion for food and design to come up with Mezbaan which is located at the MHCC Foodcourt in Suva and now I have opened a dine-in on Victoria Parade.
“The ambiance of the restaurant is important and we are aiming at providing excellent services to all that for our customers,” he said.
He came to Fiji in 2010 as a food technologist for Sitar and later opened up Mezbaan in MHCC Foodcourt in April last year.
He opened up the second restaurant with a soft-opening last Friday. Meanwhile, the grand opening is expected to be happening in the coming months.
The restaurant specialises in Indian, Chinese, Thai and Bangladeshi cuisine as Mr Mozno has utilised his cultural background, from Bangladesh. Investment into the business He also used his Masters degree in Food science to come up with the concept for Mezbaan with an investment of over $500,000 for the new dine-in restaurant.
Restaurant manager Shereen Prasad said a lot of thought has gone into the restaurant as Mr Mozno has greater aspirations for the business to grow.
She also stated they introduced the mixed cuisines because it was absent from the local market.
Mr Mozno said they had to do extreme renovations of the restaurant space because of the design and setting of it.
“The renovations have taken a total of seven months to complete and there are still minute details left for the grand opening as the restuarent is designed by him and casual workers have brought his plans to life.
“I also have a farm in Navua which is not in full operations right now, and once it is, I will be able to supply fresh poulty and vegetables to my restaurants, that will increase the business portfolio as it will all be grown inhouse. He plans on expanding his business to Laucala and he is also in the process of booking tenancy at one of the upcoming complexes in the area.
