“Fijian Fashion Festival is a platform for us to define our own identity within the global fashion scene, or without trying to be something else, or something from another country.

“What we are doing is representing ourselves fully as a collective through a national identity which we are also holding consultations leading up to the festival.” “For those who wish to model, females should between the age of 15 to 25 and males between the age of 18 to 25.”

The Fijian Fashion Festival, is a refreshed trade and consumer platform that will solidify the fashion industry’s position as the small and medium enterprises generating industry.

The Fijian Fashion Festival scheduled for June 1 and 2, will run over two nights and one whole day that is June The council is heavily committed to making Suva the global centre for Pacific Fashion.

Mr Ali also noted that a model database will also be created as well on Saturday for those that show up for the call from 10am till midday.

“The database that we will be created will belong to the Fashion Council of Fiji aside from the models showing on the runaway at the Fijian Fashion Festival.

“The databse will also be available to external clients who come in to Fiji looking for models.

“The database will be segmented so that we are able to capture appropriate size etc and different variations in the human beings who are coming for the model auditions. We will send the data base out so that the models would be able to work outside the Fijian Fashion Festival.

“For the first time in our model industry the models will be paid appropriately for example, between $100-200 per show dependant on a range of factors like popularity, experience and social media presence. “A lot of the models work in Fiji part time thus they need to be paid appropriately, and being able to value models properly for the first time.

“We feel that we have so much experience and expertise right here in Fiji so we are not looking too off shore for model training.”
