Rewa Players Join Suva
Rewa players Iosefo Verevou and Mohammed Nizal trained with the Suva team at Bidesi Ground yesterday.
Both players have applied to join the capital side when the Fiji Football Association transfer window opened on Monday.
The Suva Football Association is waiting for the proper paper documentation from Rewa Football as they want the players to feature for the capital side as soon as possible in the Vodafone Premier League competition.
Suva beat Rewa 3-2 in the first round last week and take on Labasa on Friday at 7:30pm at Ratu Cakobau Park and Dreketi at 1pm on Sunday..
Suva Football president Ritesh Pratap said the players started training yesterday.
“We are expecting to have a hard training session throughout this week with Verevou and Nizal,”Pratap said.
“We are still waiting for their proper release documents from Rewa. Verevou and Nizal played for Rewa last weekend.
“We are still awaiting confirmation on their release as these two players have shown keen interest to join the capital city side.
“Also apart from the two players, there are few more players that have shown keen interest to join the team.”
Pratap also confirmed that the side has not named their permanent coach as they focused on improving their performance against Labasa and Dreketi this weekend. “We are focusing on the games at hand, Our interim coach Riyaz Ali is in charge.
“Despite winning our first match against Rewa, I still think the boys cracked in defence are at times and failed to capitalise on many goal scoring opportunities. “Labasa has always been a tough team to take on as they have experienced players in their side. But nevertheless, we will prepare ourselves accordingly and give Labasa and Dreketi a good run as we aim to win both games.”
